Screening Task: Spoken Tutorial promo video and 3D models

Pre-requisites:

Details of the task:

Task 1: Promo video

  1. Create one promo video for health and nutrition spoken tutorials.
  2. Choose any 2 of the following groups of spoken tutorials:

    1. Group A

      1. Cross cradle hold for breastfeeding
      2. Breastfeeding latching

    2. Group B

      1. Hand expression of breastmilk
      2. Storage of expressed breastmilk
      3. Feeding expressed breastmilk to babies

    3. Group C

      1. Breast conditions in lactating mothers
      2. Nipple conditions in lactating mothers

    4. Group D

      1. Basics of newborn care
      2. How to bathe a newborn

    5. Group E

      1. Breast crawl
      2. Kangaroo mother care

  3. Choose only ONE group of tutorials for each promo video. E.g.  Create your promo video for group A tutorials (cross-cradle hold and breastfeeding latching), or group B, C D or E tutorials
  4. Write 1 to 2 pages storyline for the promo video.
  5. Duration of the promo video should be between 20 to 30 seconds each.
  6. Create a storyboard for the promo video.
  7. Use only open-source software like Blender, Synfig, Gimp and Inkscape to create the promo video. Use of commercial software is not allowed for this task.

  9. The dimension of the promo video should be 1280x720 and their rate should be 30 fps.
  10. Create a ZIP file containing the following:

    1. Mp4 files of the promo video with correct naming. E.g Promo-of-breastfeeding-hold-and-latching.mp4
    2. Raw/ source files of all the graphics and animations created for the video in open source software with correct naming. E.g. Breastfeeding.svg
    3. PDF files of the storylines of the video with correct naming. E.g. Storyline-of-breastfeeding-hold-and-latching-promo-video.pdf
    4. Scanned copies of the storyboard of the video with correct names. E.g. Storyboard-of-breastfeeding-hold-and-latching-promo-video.jpg

Task 2: 3D models

  1. Create 3D models of the following:

    1. Anganwadi centre (characters are optional)
    2. Food storage area in an urban kitchen (characters are optional)

  2. Only Blender software should be used to create these 3D models. Use of commercial software is not allowed.
  3. Create a ZIP file containing the following:

    1. Png/ jpg files of two 3D models with correct naming. E.g. 3D-model-Anganwadi-centre.png
    2. Raw/ source files of the 3D models with correct naming. E.g. Source-file-anganwadi-centre.blend

 

Guidelines to be followed for submission:

 Upload the ZIP files on the moodle submission portal.

 

Technical requirements:

Knowledge and skills to create graphics, animations and video using open-source software such as Blender, Inkscape, Synfig, GIMP, typically used in animation institutes, applied arts, fine arts, and other creative college courses.

 

Evaluation criteria: 

No plagiarism (if your submission matches another student's submission, both will be rejected)

The task will be evaluated on the basis of the criteria given below:

Task 1: Promo video

  • Concept clarity
  • Creativity
  • Graphic quality - color, detailing and proportion.
  • Proper time distribution for each scene
  • Usability of the promo video for the Spoken Tutorial project
  • Process of making the video - Storyboard and storyline 

Task 2: 3D models

  • Photo-realistic rendering
  • Concept clarity
  • Quality - Proportion, color, camera angle and lights
  • Usability of the 3D model for the Spoken Tutorial project

Please note that the selected applicants will have to agree to transfer full copyright of their work to the Spoken Tutorial project.
