The Tutorials in this series are created using Freeplane 1.7.10 on Ubuntu Linux v 16.04. Freeplane is a popular open source software for concept mapping and mind mapping. It can be downloaded for installation for many operating systems. Concepts, ideas or thoughts can be represented by diagrams in Freeplane. The GUI is user friendly, easy to express ideas and share in various condensed formats. Currently it is under active development, has user forum and supports variety of features. Besides extensive formatting capacity, the software has options for slide presentation, teaching and learning add-on modules, Moodle add-ons, Groovy scripting capability, organizer capacity, incorporate reminders, set alarm, text-map conversion ability, allow drag-drop, ability to incorporate various file format attachments, and allow conditional node styles.
